About the artist…

Tamsen Reed

I’ve always loved art. As a younger person I immersed myself in paints, charcoal, colored pencil, woodcrafts and mosaics… anything I could get my hands on that let me play with light and color. Through it all, stained glass always called to me from a quiet, deep place in my soul, and from the moment I began this journey, it was like coming home.

My partner and I moved to Scotland in 2018, and I began learning from and apprenticing with the finest glass artists I could find. My learning and most of training began with Quatro Manis Studio in Glasgow, the studio of the incredibly talented Julien Papillon. I learned glass painting through several courses with Derek Hunt, HALTglass and Ellen Van Dijk, and many others. Throughout my time training in Europe, I was able to see first hand and be inspired by some of the finest stained glass collections, churches, teachers and studios in the world - an incredible blessing that Americans artists rarely have.

Because of that immersion in the history and tradition of this endangered craft, as well as my deep gratitude and respect for the traditional artists I’ve learned from, I focus heavily on honoring the history and heritage of stained glass craftsmanship. The life-long pursuit of mastery in one’s craft is something I think we’re losing in a world that emphasizes frantic productivity and ‘the hustle’ instead… but it’s very important to my own journey and my work.

In 2024 we moved back to the US from Europe, returning to my home state of Colorado, and my studio is nestled in the Foothills of Boulder. While dedicated to serving the Front Range and Eastern Slope communities of Colorado, please reach out if you’re interested, no matter where you’re from - depending on the needs of your project or commission - shipping and delivery options are possible.
